Paintings in progress……

These are Winx Club fairies for my friends little girl. Apparently it is a kids cartoon, but in all the pictures I found the fairies looked like prostitutes. I’ve put more clothes on them and given them breast reductions. I also made them a bit less skinny. I must be getting old to think cartoons are a bad influence on kids.

A fellow blogger and some Dragons. I will tell the story once she has been painted!
Love Sailor xox

Your fairies look much better than the originals, and that work in progress at the bottom looks wonderful! I love the fluidity of your work, and that you are using your gift to create such beautiful pieces. And thanks for sharing, it’s always such a delight to see what you’re working on ♡
Thank you
I’m glad people enjoy it. Maybe because most of my work is fantasy it gives us all a break from reality! xox
Wonderful art work! And i think they are a bad influence when they have girls wearing practically nothing! Makes the kids think it is cool/normal to dress like that! Xx
I wonder if there were any cartoons like this when I was little? We had Barbie and my little ponies and stuff, but I don’t think they were as bad as they are now :/ xox
I don’t think they were quite as bad until the last few years. Except Barbie, which has always been incredibly lacking in clothing!
xx
I had a girl I babysat that was really into that show. I share your abhorrence to this trend of sexualizing children’s cartoons. I also thought there was a lot of love triangle/complicated type romance for a children’s show. Seemed more like a soap opera for adults.
Your drawing is lovely though
I’m glad it’s not just me who thinks this is odd. I’ve never watched it, but it sounds like something that’d anger me and freak me out.
I just wanted to make my friends little girl happy. I hope she doesn’t think they are too fully clothed?!? xox
I think the outfits are super cute. I like the colors too. I think your friend’s girl will love it. It’s still obvious what show/characters they are, and that’s what’s important.
I couldn’t manage more than two halves of an episode, it was so upsetting. I managed to convince my charge to switch to Arthur, which I adore.
Thank you for taking more care with your art (which is lovely) as opposed to the companies out there that are hawking hooker dolls to our girls!!! xoxox
Thanks Maggie! xox
